Hardworking Parliamentary Spokesman for Erdington Robert Alden has said thank you to the people of Erdington for voting for him in the recent General Election. Erdington Ward was the only ward in Birmingham, outside of Sutton Coldfield, to vote for a Conservative MP.
Sadly across the whole constituency Robert narrowly missed out to Labour, in a seat that only 10 years ago was considered one of Labour's safest seats in the whole Country.
Robert said "thank you to everyone who supported us, voted for us, helped deliver leaflets or put up a poster. Erdington is my home as well and I am proud to work to improve our home for all of us".
In the City Council elections on the same day Cllr Gareth Moore was re-elected in Erdington Ward. While Andy Rudge fell just short in Kingstanding Ward, Rachel Toussaint more than doubled the Conservative vote in Stockland Green Ward and tireless local campaigner Clifton Welch had a 7% swing to the Conservative in Tyburn Ward making it truely marginal for the next election.
Overall there remains 5 Conservative and 7 Labour Councillors in the Erdington District area.
